The collection (1904-1967) of Finnish Socialist Organizations, West Coast chapters, comprises minutes; financial records; membership records; correspondence; stock certificates; and playscripts from ten Finnish Socialist organizations active in California or Oregon. The organizations are: Berkeley Suomalinen Toveri Yhdistys (Berkeley Finnish Comrade Association (Berkeley, California); Berkeley (California) Finnish Cultural Club; the International Workers' Organization (Berkeley, California); the Finnish American Cultural Society.

The Finnish Workers' Federation of the United States was organized in 1927 and incorporated in New York City in 1932. It was the political, cultural and educational organization of the Finnish American Communists and actively supported militant labor unions, farmers' organizations, the cooperative movement and the unemployed movement.
